Welcome! Thanks for stopping by! There's always something new here, have a look around.
Born and raised near the shores of Lake St. Clair and summering at the beach of Lake Erie, Sue’s love for rocks, clay and freighters began long ago. She would leave this area, but always come back, heading for the water first. Sue graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelors degree in Design. Her professional career was spent curating art galleries for a hospital system. The real fun started when she decided to make art full time. Now, she is living her dream.
Fascinated by the silent, giant ships that traversed these Great Lakes, moving cargo quickly, silently. I liken this fascination to that of bird watching. Suddenly, one day you look up and realize these things are awesome! So skillful, so adept! In college, Sue tried every art form —painting, clay, pastels, collage; “once I started making things from other things, Mosaicing with a purpose—I was hooked!” Each piece fuels her desire to learn more and that is what fires her engines! Using colorful stained glass, mosaiced and embellished, she creates House portraits, which have led to Boat portraits, which led to Freighter Portraits! Love these silent beauties.
